Best Little One-Sentence Diary Ever

THE FOLLOWING IS NOT ACTUALLY PART OF THE DIARY...

This is not part of the diary.  You can skip this part and it won't take away from the overall effect of the diary.  It's only meant to explain why I wrote a one-sentence diary.

Usually I try to at least get a few paragraphs in before hitting the post button, and find this to be a good practice.  People don't like one-sentence diaries, essentially.  They like some meat in their daily discourse.  Some facts, analogies, etc.  One-sentence diaries are historically a loser.

However, what is the worth of a diary?  Its intrinsic value as a vessel of empirical thought?  It's bulk quantity, measured in characters used?

Or its ability to stimulate discussion?

I think that last option.  Which is why I will now post a one-sentence diary, or should I rephrase, The Best Little One Sentence Diary Ever.

THIS ENDS THE PRE-DIARY COMMENTARY.  THE ACTUAL DIARY IS NOW COMMENCING.

Jeremiah Wright is planning on releasing a book in October, discuss.

She's not exactly clean... (2.00 / 1)

If you wanna talk about  associations the Clinton's may wanna back off of that...Obama has too much class and respect to bring up the likes of  Webb Hubbell (`90s flashback: He was one of Hillary Clinton's legal partners and closest friends, whom she installed in a top Justice Department job before prosecutors sent him to prison.)

It also includes modern hits like Frank Giustra. (In case you missed it: There was a January New York Times story, which did not get the attention the reporting deserved, highlighting how this Canadian tycoon and major Bill Clinton benefactor was using his ties to the ex-president to win business with a ruthless dictatorship in Khazakstan.)

Obama has never pressed Clinton to talk about Marc Rich, even though the former fugitive financier who won a controversial pardon from Bill Clinton gave money to her first Senate campaign.

He has never mentioned her brothers, even though Hugh and Tony Rodham once defied Bill Clinton's own top foreign policy advisers by entering into a strange investment in hazelnuts in the former Soviet republic of Georgia and Hugh Rodham took large cash payments for trying to broker presidential pardons.

And don't forget a Newsday story  at her legal career -- including the revelation that as a young lawyer she attacked the credibility of a 12-year-old rape victim.

Total lack of experience. (none / 0)

We've had that for 8 years and this country cannot live with another 4 years of a non-starter.

Obama is a Political Lurker...always in the picture, but never out front, never leading the charge.  Even his "famous" speech resulted in not a single attempt by BO to end the war once he got into the Senate.  But then, he was so busy on day one running for his next promotion he forgot that little issue, didn't he?

I remember reading about him running into committee members on their way to a press conference about something they had just accomplished.  He said, "What's up" and they told him and he said, "Can I come along"?  They said sure - they wanted people on the podium for pictures and then he had the audacity (whoops!) to take the mic and speak as if he had been personally involved in the accomplishment.  Staffers were pissed as hell at what he did.

He lurked in CT in 2006 (never really coming out and supporting Ned Lamont).  He lurks on pro-choice (using weasel words and voting present).  He lurks on race (demanding a dialog and now saying we should all move on - pun intended!).  Condemning the Gas Tax Holiday proposal when he supported other such proposals three times.

Where in the world does he really stand on things?  I don't know.  And I'm not willing to take a chance.

If we elect a lurker then Repugs will rule the day anyway because he lurks right as much as he lurks left.

NOT what we must have for this country if we are expected to move forward.

Plus, he has destroyed any improvements we have made in race relations since 1960.

He should be ashamed of himself.

Re: So mollusk...I told you what you wanted (none / 0)

uh, actually, I have a job.

But to your point that we've had a total lack of experience in Washington for the past eight years - I don't think that could be less accurate.  I know it's a campaign slogan, but Bush had one of the most politically connected and politically experienced teams in recent memory.  And they still f**ked it up.  We could speculate all day why that may be, but part of it, I think, is that they were completely averse to getting outside help or input.  They had their minds made up and that was that.  After all, they had the experience.  Why listen to anyone else?

As for the "political lurker" charge against Obama, I'm not sure how to respond.  If you take a few instances of someone not leading, but just kind of being in the scene, for example eight years while Hillary was a first lady, it's hard to dispute.

But all that aside, I find it amazing that a Democrat (a life-long Democrat) would even consider not voting this year.  There are lots of things I don't like about Hillary.  But I'll work my butt off to get her elected.

I just don't see what's so bad about either of these candidates that you'd rather risk having a Republican win instead.

Again, I could speculate, but that would be rude.

Here is the truth.  The next President will likely replace two members of the Supreme Court at least... That is the truth.  Democrats, any of them, have the interests of working Americans at heart.... not just the CEO's but those in the trenches.

Now, you may hate Obama to the extent that you don't care if McCain gets elected or not if Clinton does not get the nomination, but I do care.  I don't care who we nominate.  Obama was not my first or second choice, but I am voting for the Democrat in November, straight-ticket in fact.

Re: I'm placing my advanced order right now! (2.00 / 1)

This year, winning an election outweighs everything with me.... that is, increasing our margins in Congress and electing a Dem to the White House.

I will not trust the Republicans... any Republican with potentially two Supreme Court nominees.

Seriously, if Mark Penn ran as the Dem nominee, he would have my vote at this point and I find that man to redefine the word odious.

I will vote my conscience, no matter how bullied I am by Obama's rentathugs.

Here I come, Ralph.

Re: I'm placing my advanced order right now! (2.00 / 2)

your vote is your vote...  I had friends that voted their consciences in 2000 and went with Nader instead of Gore...  I laughed at their buyer's remorse in the following years much as I did the friends who voted for Bush in 2004... Bad politicians are elected by good people that don't vote.  Voting for a third party is similar to not voting since the two major parties have gamed the system to eliminate any serious competition...

But your vote is your vote.

Wow, if this is true then I think Rev. Wright is the real Judas.  How pathetic of him to take advantage of the situation to make money.  I just thought he was a loon before and now I think he is a real asshole.

Well, of course he feels like the Shephard has been slammed by a member of the Flock and he just needs to set the record straight. . . it's not necessarily for the money.

Re: Best Little One-Sentence Diary Ever (none / 0)

I think he is doing it for fame and money.  He is reportedly pretty well off.  Crap like this goes to people's heads.  Hey I am a Hillary supporter but I think this Rev. Wright is a pretty nefarious dude.  With friends like him who needs enemies?

No, he is just misunderstood.

He is being taken out of context, nefarious loops playing on FoxNews 24/7.

...

Excuse me?  Oh, Obama HQ has issued new marching orders?  Wright's not a good guy anymore?

Dang, I didn't get the memo.

...

Wright bad bad...bad...

Looks like the old guard isn't going out (none / 0)

without a fight.

Obama, as much as people around here hate him, really is part of the new guard.  Clinton (and Wright's) political machinery had its place and time, and both of these people have done an enormous amount of good.  Both are wedded to the current power structure and will not give up the reins easily.  But they will ultimately lose.  Even if Hillary becomes President, she will be a throwback to the '90s the way George Bush senior was a throwback to the '50s.

This is not to say that Hillary wouldn't make a good President, but her Presidency would be about tensions between old and new politics and old and new political structures.  Cory Booker versus Sharpe James.  This is it, in real life.

Wright probably has tapes of Obama saying some far out shit.
